NEW FROM AVON

I’ve read:
One Good Earl Deserves A Lover
The Lass Wore Black
Destiny’s Embrace

All of them were reading. Beverly Jenkins book was exceptional.

I’m giving away a copy of this book. Please, leave a comment to be in the drawing. The winner will be drawn on Friday at noon.

The Lass Wore Black was a dark story.

One Good Earl was a fun read.

I’m sorry these reviews aren’t full reviews. I’m in my 3rd week of illness, and had more tests today. I hope to be back to my normal self soon.

Good Reading

BOOK REVIEW – SEDUCED BY A PIRATE by Eloisa James

Griffin and Phoebe are married.  In fact they have been married fourteen years.

Shh, she is still a virgin.  He decamped on the wedding night.

Then he had the effrontery to become a pirate.

Phoebe has a secret.  In fact she has three of them.

Off spring.

Brood.

Children.

Family.

Then there is the bet.

Griffin and his cousin James (The Ugly Duchess) make a bet as to who can get his wife to bed first.

Griffin goes home to Phoebe.  She doesn’t recognize him.  To her he is still the seventeen year old boy who had fled out the window on their wedding night.

To him she is more beautiful and desirable than ever.

Let the seduction begin.

This captivating story will have you laughing at amusing antics and sighing with the heroine at more intimate moments.

SOUP NEWS, GOOD NEWS AND A BOOK REVIEW

SOUP NEWS

6 June 2012

Food Safety Recall: Giant Food Stores advises its customers that The Campbell Soup Company has recalled Campbells Oyster Stew Soup, Condensed (10.5-oz cans; UPC 5100003087), based on FDA’s findings of insanitary conditions of shellfish areas in Korea. http://efoodalert.net/2012/06/06/recalls-and-alerts-june-6-2012/

GOOD NEWS

Out of 900 applicants I’ve been picked to be an Avon Addict.  It not the make-up and perfume company, but the book publisher.

Each month I’ll get books to review and swag.

I plan to distribute books.  If there is more than one copy I’ll save one to be added to an Avon bag to be donated to the Brenda Novak annual diabetes auction next May. http://brendanovak.auctionanything.com/

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first batch of books.  I still have 3 to read.

BOOK REVIEW

DARK HUNGER

by Christine Feehan

http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Secret-Carpathians-Series-Book/dp/0515138851/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1351092880&sr=8-4&keywords=dark+hunger

This is the latest installment in her Dark series.

Riordan our hunky hero is trapped inside a volcano with a very  old and wicked vampire.  They have been there for 500 years.

Juliette our beautiful and gutsy heroine has an affinity with the volcano that goes back generations.  She doesn’t understand why she has to get to the top of the volcano before it erupts but is determined to get there.

The first half of the book is intense, dark and brooding. The second half is action, adventure and romance.

We do get some answers to the ongoing Carpathian problems.

If you are a fan of these books I recommend you read this one.  If you are new to the series read them in order or you will get confused.

I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Look for more reviews coming soon.

IS THERE AN OYSTER SHORTAGE?

July 30, 2012

Grocery shopping is not one of my favorite activities. However, it must be done.

On Saturday Brent and I went to the local Wal-Mart. We got to the soup section and they were out of Oyster Stew. I said, “No problem. I’ll get it at Ingle’s.”
Fast forward to today. Ingle’s had two cans; of which I’m not the proud owner.

So, either Campbell’s isn’t producing enough Oyster Stew or there is an oyster shortage.

I don’t think that many people in my little community eat Campbell’s Oyster Stew to have created this shortage. After all we live in the mountains of east TN.

So, let me know how your local stores are doing on stocking oyster stew.

Who Am I?

July 20, 2012

When my boys were little I was a stay at home mom.

Then when they were a little older the press dubbed me a soccer mom. Neither of my boys played soccer.

For about 10 years I was the mother of teenagers. Those who have been there need no explanation to the craziness teenagers can add to your life.

Then off and on one or another pursued higher education.

As of next Monday I will no longer be the mom of a student.

I’m too young to be retired. Even though I’m handicapped it isn’t the appellation I want to go by.

Since so much of my life has been defined by my boys I think it only fair that for the rest of my life their offspring give me the best name of all.

Gran.
